International University of Kyrgyzstan is developing a Master Program on Strategic Trade Control (STC)
The International University of Kyrgyzstan (IUK)), together with the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) and the Center on Export Control with the support of the European Union is developing a Master Program “Strategic Trade Control in public and business structures of the economy” at the Department of "Management and Economics", Faculty "Economics, Computer Technology, Diplomacy and Humanities". This project started in September 2022.
The purpose of the master program is to train future specialists responsible for strategic trade control in the public and private sector, able to support ministries, departments, private and other companies in the field of foreign economic activity, in compliance with legislation and necessary procedures in the field of STC management.
In this regard, from November 7-9, 2022, Bishkek hosted an online "Training of Trainers" workshop organized for faculty members of the International University of Kyrgyzstan and the Kyrgyz National University named after Zhusup Balasagyn, participating in the implementation of the academic program on Strategic Trade Control (STC).
The purpose of the workshop was to share best practices and lessons learned for instructors and researchers seeking to improve their skills in understanding the basic principles of STC.
This training helped the instructors at the International University of Kyrgyzstan and the Kyrgyz National University to develop a common understanding of how to teach a strategic trade control academic program and to better understand the export control system and international nonproliferation obligations
This project is implemented by the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) in the framework of the EU-funded CBRN Targeted Initiative on Export Controls of Dual-Use Materials and Technologies in cooperation with the Export Control Center (Bishkek).
